A beam of 10 x 10 cm to ride/hop/jump over for level 3 |
For level 3 of the IUF, the rider has to
clear (i.e. hop, jump or ride over) an object of 10 x 10 cm. I have built
the object pictured here for practicing purposes. The width is always 10
cm, but the height may be varied between 1.0 and 11.0 cm (in steps varying
from 0.5 to 1.0 cm) by selecting the appropriate parts.

The various parts are made of 18 mm thick multiply wood except one which is 9 mm (here on top). Each board is covered by a 1 mm thick grippy rubber sheet. In addition, the H-beam has anti-slip bottom rubber of 3 mm, and a 2 mm metal sheet screwed on the plywood below the top rubber. So the various thicknesses are 24 - 19 - 19 - 19 - 19 - 10 mm. |

Bottom view. Assembly is done by tightening two wing nuts. Because of the friction from the rubber sheets, the whole thing is rock solid with just two bolts. |

Assembly for 10.0 cm height (level 3 requirement). I apologise for some rain drops, but such is the spring this year. |

The beam in action, or rather subjected to action. Height in this picture is set at 5.3 cm, "quite easy" according to Jorga who just rolls over it. |
